Film and Media students hit the big screen for movie premiere

Budding filmmakers at Havering Sixth Form walked the red carpet to see their work on the big screen at a Romford cinema.

This special screening celebrated their achievements in the year so far and showcased some award-winning work from 2015.

Friends, family, past students, teachers and film buffs all filled the Romford Premiere Cinema for the event—and the response was astonishing.

Films screened ranged from live action drama, horror and crime thrillers, through to computer-generated and stop-motion animation.

Arts and Media Faculty Leader Brian Martin said:

The British film industry is in an amazing stage of growth and judging by the amount of talent required to create the professional and innovative movies screened at this event, I see our students as the future of filmmaking.

Our tutors are clearly inspiring students to produce the kind of high standard of work that will enable them to pursue an outstanding career in the film industry.

Film student Phoebe Maloney said:

It was nice to see everyone’s work like this. I worked really hard and took pride in what I was doing.

Fellow student Madiah Rahman added:

I feel like I’ve achieved something seeing my cinematography up there and getting such positive feedback. It’s really boosted my confidence as a filmmaker and given me a lot of ideas for future projects.
