Delicious drama with a side of comedy

A blend of short plays by Alan Ayckbourn and Michael Frayn were performed for a recent exam assessment by the College’s upper sixth BTEC Acting group.

Called Felina, the production featured light comic observations of human behaviour. It was set in a restaurant and billed as a ‘delicious taste of drama with a side of comedy’.

The collection of short scenes, such as Between Cheese and Jam, A Stiff Drink, Speaking for Two and Drinking Companions, came together to form the show, which was the students’ final production as an ensemble, having worked together for the last two years.

Many of the students involved are hoping to go on to study Performing Arts at either drama school or university. Eve Hellen has been offered a place at Royal Holloway to study Drama and Theatre; Shavaniece Simpson will be taking the Foundation Drama course at East 15; Aiesha Wilson will join the ALRA (Academy of Live and Recorded Arts) to study Film and Callum Broom is hoping to take a Stage Combat acting course at East 15.

Thomas Stansfield is taking a gap year before going to drama school and Ellie Harvey is staying at Havering Sixth Form College for another year and then also going to drama school.

Other students are using the transferable skills they have learned on the course to branch out into other areas. Natalie Ayeni has been offered a Marketing course at De Montfort University, Oliver Rose will be taking up an Apprenticeship in the House of Lords and James Jones, Hattie Moss and Megan Demmel are going straight into employment.
