Copper Box win for basketball team

Congratulations to our winning women’s basketball team who secured another victory by beating Epping Forest College 51 – 26.

The game took place at the Copper Box Arena in Stratford which had previously been used for basketball and handball matches during the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

It was a great experience playing in such an iconic venue for both teams. The Havering Sixth Form College squad continues to be successful in matches and are improving with every game.

In other sport, our Netball team had a very good opening to the match in the AoC league against Uxbridge College. They led at the start but unfortunately the momentum couldn’t be maintained and Uxbridge went on to win the match.

A special mention goes out to our players Fine Okemadu for her shooting and Deborah Nzau for her defensive work.

In Men’s Basketball, Havering Sixth Form College hosted Haringey Sixth Form College in their 13th game of the ABL Eastern Conference campaign, which saw Haringey take the win 141-27.

It was always going to be a tough task with a weakened squad due to injuries and unavailable players. Haringey took no time at all in showing why they are number 1 in the Eastern Conference - scoring at will and putting Havering under constant pressure with their court presence.

HSFC Head Coach Damien Plummer said: “It has not been a good week in regards to preparation and you can’t face the top team in your league and expect to perform without being prepared. The players now know what needs to happen to improve.”
