College plans ‘Purple Friday’ in memory of Jodie Chesney

Students and staff at Havering Sixth Form College are working together to plan a day to remember Jodie Chesney one week after her tragic death.

The college community are being invited to ‘wear something purple’ this Friday, 8th March, since this was Jodie’s favourite colour.

They will also be given an opportunity to contribute to the new GoFundMe page raising money to assist Jodie’s family with the cost of her funeral.

Jodie was studying A Levels in Psychology, Sociology and Photography at Havering Sixth Form College. She was an excellent, hard-working and focussed student and her loss is devastating to staff and students.

Mindful of the impact of a tragic and sudden death on the whole college community, staff have been working to ensure that appropriate support is in place for all those affected. Representatives of a number of services will be in college on Friday to ensure that this support continues.

Principal, Paul Wakeling will address staff and students in the Quad followed by a minute’s silence. Paul will then be available to meet with members of the press for a short briefing. Further details will be available to the press later this week.
