Students strike a pose at Fashion Taster Day
Students got in the style for a Fashion Design Taster Day held at Ravensbourne University.
Attended by a group of lower sixth Art & Design students, the taster day aimed to dispel some of the myths about university life and also gave them an idea of the different types of art degrees that are available to study.
The students enjoyed a tour of Ravensbourne, which is located next to the O2 Arena in London, and were able to speak to some of the existing students about their art projects and their experience of studying art at university.
They were given information about the numerous degrees on offer to art students and heard how they could spend some time studying and working abroad with some well-known designer brands.
An art challenge finished off the day where the students were tasked to create their own colourful designs on mannequins.
Suzanne Humphreys, NCOP Engagement Officer based at Havering Sixth Form College, said: “All the students enjoyed the day and came away having learned so much. A few of them who were not sure about going to university, are now seriously considering applying for a degree course.”
One student said: “I found the visit fun, interesting and enjoyable. I’m now questioning whether I may change my original course plans for university and do fashion design instead.”
Another said: “The experience was really useful – I gained valuable information to make decisions about my future.”
