Grease is the word! Electrifying show by Performing Arts students
There was slicked back hair, leather jackets and bobby-socks in abundance when Performing Arts students put on a colourful and dynamic production of Grease.
The audience was taken back to the days of the T Birds and the Pink Ladies in 1950s Rydell High as the romantic story of Danny and Sandy was played out by students on the BTEC Diploma course.
The show featured all the popular characters, including Danny, Sandy, Kenickie, Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty and Miss Lynch – as well as a version of the T Birds’ famous Greased Lightning car which was designed and made in College by student Larry Mikolaitis and Design Technology facilitator Anneliese Attack.
Drama tutor Lisa Rogers said: “The students put on a great show and worked really hard. We got some great feedback from the audiences. Larry deserves special praise for going above and beyond to get this production as slick as it was. He organised everyone, made rehearsal schedules, acted as the stage manager as well as helping to make the car and playing the role of Roger.”
Deputy Principal Paul Nutter said after watching the performance: “It really was an excellent show. It was a lot of fun with great singing, dancing and acting by a group of our really talented students.”
