Cricketers just miss out on national finals place

The College cricket team narrowly missed qualifying for the national finals when they lost in the final ball of the regional tournament.

The team travelled to the Finchley Indoor Cricket Centre to take part in the Indoor 24 Regional Cricket Tournament along with various other colleges from the area, including Newham, NewVic, Barking and Dagenham and Uxbridge.

Havering Sixth Form played NewVic in the final of the competition. The team played well, scoring 32 runs when they batted first.  Then it was NewVic’s turn to bat and in an exciting finish to the match, they chased the runs from the last ball to clinch the tournament and qualify for the national finals, meaning Havering Sixth Form just lost out.

The team were:  Kudiwa Kamadyuriwa, Louis Pickering, Sam Childs, Kai Hatton, Jack Payne, Harry Gilham and Abdal Altaf.  All played particularly well, especially Jack Payne with a very good all-round performance in the final.
